EXCiTE CYMBAL is a cymbal plugin features ultra-realistic sound through physical modeling.

Use MIDI notes to trigger the in-built exciter and change tip hardness and bell intensity parameters.

For added realism the MIDI triggered values can be adjusted with a probability curve. The exciter feeds into a waveguide resonator algorithm which lets you change tuning, decay and damping.

ClangCymbal is a monophonic synthesizer specialized for metallic percussion sounds.

Metallic texture is generated by feedback delay network (FDN). The cymbal sound is not perfect, but better than my previous attempts of cymbal synthesizers.

Note that output level varies a lot. Recommend to insert limiter after ClangCymbal. High CPU load.

64 * 64 FDN with individual controls for each filter on feedback path.
Noise/pulse oscillator for excitation.
A modulation envelope with 128 control points.
Simple tremolo almost as same as the one on FDNCymbal.
Monophonic due to high CPU load.
2x oversampling.

Star Cym

Star Cym features cymbal synthesis using parametric delay network.
The arrangement of delays provides useful variance.
This VST was released years ago as part of a bundle. In retrospect, it sort of sounds like acoustic cymbals that don’t move.

FDNCymbal

FDNCymbal is a cymbal sound synthesizer.

It can also be used as an effect. Unlike the name, most of metallic texture comes from Schroeder allpass section rather than FDN (feedback delay network).
FDN section makes nice impact sound when FDN. Time is short. Tremolo is added to simulate wobbling of cymbal.

Stick oscillator. Just some impulses and sine waves.
FDN section makes stick sounds more plausible.
Schroeder allpass section adds metallic texture to the signal.
Tremolo can be used to simulate wobbling of cymbal.

Note: Currently Linux build doesn’t display GUI.

Cymbal Killer is a 2-band gate especially designed for drums.

With it’s two bands you can have different envelope settings for the sustain (low frequencies) and attack (high frequencies) of the drum.

It allows the sustain to breathe while keeping the attack short to kill the cymbal bleed entering through the close mics on a drumset (hence the name).

It has a side-chain input and high-pass, low-pass and parametric filters (shared by the two bands) for focusing the sound of the drum on the detector circuit.
Lookahead for allowing the full transient through (introduces latency).
Two visualizers (one for each band) for watching the envelope.
Mix slider for allowing a mix between the original clean signal and the gated signal.
