Radio Junk

Radio Junk delivers the characteristic sound of 2 different radio types.
It uses the Nebula technic for sampling hardware sound properties. Windows 32 and 64 bits versions both comes with 2 setups, for 44.1 kHz and 96 kHz processings. Each setup installs 3 VSTs for the 3 different settings called “smash”,”detuned” and “wobble”.
Radios used are an old solid state 5 band police scanner/radio and an old tube FM radio tuner, sampled while they were picking up the signal from a pretty nice sounding FM transmitter. This was done in 3 different ways to make 3 different effects, which all share similarities in tone (because of the radios and the FM transmitter itself). It was sampled in kind of extreme setups to push the lo-fi sound further into experimental territory.

RADIO SMASH: You can use this to smash stuff with a fairly lo-fi result. There are two main flavors (solid-state/tube), and a tone knob which you can use to go from bassy to bright. A lot of control means you can really fine tune the result. But it will probably always sound junky.

RADIO DETUNED: Use this to find weird gurgle type effects and odd distortions. Other stuff too.

RADIO WOBBLE: This is the same effect but without an LFO. So you have to wobble it yourself and create your own type of effect there, or you can just set the tone control and use the thing for it’s color.
